Lean-to conservatories are the perfect alternative for those who would like to add extra space to their home but have height restrictions. Ideal for those who live in bungalows or who are working with a smaller space, our Lean-to conservatories have all the benefits of other designs such as our Victorian conservatories, Lantern roof conservatories and Gable conservatories, but can take up less space. This is because the pitch roof on our lean-to conservatories can vary in size: a shallow pitch works well with bungalows, whereas a steep pitch is great for a terraced house.
Conservatories increase the amount of natural light in your home, offering a bright multifunctional space that you and the family can enjoy all year round. Whether that’s to entertain guests, host dinner parties or simply relax and unwind, our lean-to conservatories are the perfect addition to any property. They are a particularly good solution if you want to convert some spare space into an extra room, as they are used where there are adjoining walls.
The addition of an extra living space will add value to your property, and if you’re a fan of foliage, they’re ideal for growing plants due to the amount of sunlight they let in.

The Lean-to conservatory is the simplest style of conservatory, with clean lines that give it a contemporary look that make them a popular conservatory for modern houses. The simple shape gives you the maximum space in a highly economical style.
Whether your lean-to conservatory is traditional or contemporary, the style is perfect for properties that have restricted space under the eaves, like a bungalow, or have an area that’s too awkward to accommodate a conservatory. This is because the pitch of the roof on lean to conservatories can vary, so a shallow pitch can fit under a low bungalow roof and a steeper one would be ideal for a terraced house.

Do you need foundations for a lean to conservatory?
Even though your lean-to conservatory uses one of your property’s structural walls, it will still require foundations. This is to ensure that the conservatory is sturdy, stable and highly durable. The depth of the foundations will vary depending on the type of soil you are planning to have your conservatory installed on. Before finalising your lean-to conservatory plans, we will send a surveyor to your home to test the soil and check what kind of groundwork and footings is needed.
What is the difference between a lean-to and a conservatory?
Both have similar benefits! They both use large amounts of glass to increase the amount of natural light and warmth from the sun. However, a standard conservatory is normally much larger and can have more ornate detailing and pitched roofs, like our Victorian and Edwardian designs. A lean-to is more suitable if you’re working with a smaller space as the size and style of roof is more adaptable. You can decide if you would like a gently sloping or very high pitched roof and they don’t need to extend very far from your existing property. If you would like to find out more, get in touch with an advisor today to discuss whether a lean-to conservatory is the right solution for you.
What is a lean-to conservatory?
A lean-to conservatory is one of our simpler designs. Commonly referred to as sunrooms, this type of conservatory consists of three glass walls coming out from one of the main walls of your home. Often smaller in size, you can choose between having a glass roof for your lean-to conservatory to maximise on light, or invest in a tiled roof which will have more insulative qualities. If you don’t have the space for a full conservatory, then a lean-to is a great alternative.
Why choose a lean-to conservatory?
If you want to add extra space to your property but have a small space, then lean-to conservatories are a good option for you. They can extend just a small amount away from your home, while still maximising on light and warmth. A lean-to conservatory can vary the pitch of its roof depending on your specific needs – a shallow one for a low bungalow roof or a steeper pitch for a terraced house. The classic clean lines of a lean-to conservatory will add a touch of elegance to your home and are a great option for modern homes who need a little extra space without taking up too much of their garden.
