What is a flush casement window?
Very popular with British homeowners, casement windows are simply hinged from the side which allows them to swing open. They are installed either as a single window or as a pair, depending on your personal preference. As casement windows are hinged on the outside, they swing away from your home capitalising on space, light and ventilation.
Flush casement windows are different from normal casement windows as they sit flush against your property, rather than jutting out.
Are flush casement windows more energy efficient?
In simple terms, yes, due to their airtight seal created by the window sash pressing against the frame when closed. This will ensure your home is kept cosy during the colder months, as the warm air is kept in and the cold air kept out, making you less likely to reach for the thermostat.
If you’re looking to really reduce your energy bills, then you’ll benefit from our double or triple glazing. Our flush casement windows can be made using either and will help increase the efficiency of your home while reducing noise pollution, perfect if you live in a city or crave that extra peace and quiet.
What is the difference between a flush casement window and a picture window?
Casement windows are attached to the window frame by a hinge and can be swung inwards or away from your home. This enables maximum ventilation which is ideal for those hot summer days, as air can circulate freely throughout your property.
On the other hand, picture windows are fixed and aren’t designed to open. They are better suited for those looking to create beautiful panoramic views of the landscape, as they’re created using very few window panes and provide little obstruction to your outside space. Typically, casement windows are small and comprise multiple sashes or panes.
Are flush casement windows safe?
Our flush casement windows are very difficult to break from the outside due to the special hook shaped locks that insert directly into the frame. Whilst an unwanted intruder may attempt to pry them open, our casement windows in-built locking system adds another element of protection and are highly secure.
At M Powell, our casement windows meet the high standards of the Official Police Security Initiative Secured By Design, meaning that you can relax in your home and enjoy spending time with your loved ones knowing they are safe and secure all year round.
How much do flush casement windows cost?
There is no fixed price as it depends on a number of variables. For example, if you opt for single or paired casement windows, what material is used, the time it takes to install the windows and how much work is needed. The price would vary depending on if you are simply replacing an old casement window, as opposed to installing a brand new set as this would require added labour.
If you’re looking for our cheapest option, UPVC casement windows are the most cost-effective. If you’re looking for a different finish such as timber of aluminium, then you’ll have to dig deeper to get these installed. Are flush casement windows worth it?
We think so! Our casement windows are the perfect solution if you’re looking to capitalise on light and ventilation in your home so you can wave goodbye to stuffy rooms. They are also brilliant insulators with their compression seal technology that prevents warm air escaping and unwelcome draughts entering into your home.
Flush casement windows are also suitable for those who have limited mobility or a disability, as their crank mechanism makes them easy to open and close with minimal effort.
